'Acadia' - Second Tender to 'Bumper'
Seahopper Dinghy I originally bought the Seahopper dinghy in 1984 as a tender to my Folksong cruising yacht. When the yacht was sold, the dinghy was included in the sale. 20 years later I made a successful offer to buy her back. After a repaint I can't say she is as good as new, but great credit must go to her designer and builder, Geoff Lennard, for the fact that she is still serviceable after many years of hard use. Acadia Canoe There were two reasons why I bought a general purpose canoe. Firstly I wanted a means of getting on the water quickly with comparative ease, and secondly I planned to use her as an alternative tender capable of being towed by 'Bumper'. The Acadia being lighter than my 50/50 sailing and paddling canoe (now sold) is better for car-topping. Not long after acquiring her I gave her a sailing rig, so that on arrival at a location I could explore places inaccessible to 'Bumper'. Note: Acadia's conversion to sail can be found at: 'Acadia' - Second Tender to 'Bumper' Bill. 01.07.04 | ||||||||
