Buccaneer

'Lady Ashquelon' at Fowey.     Leaving Fowey.     My daugher Lisa at the helm in a real blow.

The Buccaneer is a Van de Stadt design, similar to the Pandora, except she is of plywood construction and has hard-chines.

This boat was used extensively for club racing, but she was also cruised to the Scilly Isles without an engine.  I fitted her with an Autohelm supplied with electricity generated by a Wasp wind charger.

My daughter Lisa joined me when I cruised to the Scillies for a week while doing the return leg.  We explored the Solent in somewhat boisterous conditions.  The photo above of Lisa at the helm will give you some indication of how rough it was that day.

The original owner and builder sailed her to Israel and back.

Providing weed growth was kept to a minimum, the yacht was very speedy.
